Details for Error code E10/0022

Bridged solder joint/Short GPU-> (H)ANA

3 red lights

Details
Primary Error code:3 red lights 3 RLOD
E-Code / Secondary Error code:E10 (No Audio/Video) / 0022
Binary/Hex:00001010 / 0x0A -> 10
Known fixes:

1)If you soldered anything to the mainboard before it occured, whatever you are powering from this point is drawing too much power so get rid of it.Also get rid of everything that you can see that might bridge anything near the GPU.
2) X-Clamp replacement
3) Reflow GPU and HANA chip
4) If it\'s not the GPU/(H)ANA, it might in rare cases be the CPU and can be fixed by reflowing the CPU.
5) if you flash with xell on JTAG-fixed xbox360 this will appear, flash back to original.
6) also can be caused by a broken trace (see link below).

Description:

This error is caused by a bridged/shorting solder joint under the GPU, (H)ANA-chip or in between. It can also be power related though, for example if you are drawing power from one of the regulators that power the GPU and HANA-chip.Can also be a component that is missing or damaged so look for missing parts near the GPU and the HANA chip. In extremely rare cases it might also be related to the lines that lead from HANA to the CPU.
The chances are however higher that it is the GPU than the HANA chip so you should always first concentrate on the GPU.

Another cause could be due to a broken trace under the board near one of the ram blocks, check the picture in the reference section. Thank you arvydas for reporting this solution!
This error also show up if the CPU ! was taken off the mainboard.

Jasper motherboard C7F4 was the culprit, I swelled it up during a CPU swap and
replaced it with a better looking cap and it threw the E10. I changed with
another exact same cap and booted green lights!

If Xbox CPU detached from the motherboard, it will gives you 0022 after 7
seconds.

I just tried the "clear unsuccessful updates" by holding the Sync
button down while plugging the system in, then booting the system while still
holding the sync button. Problem solved for my E71. I had just tried a reball on
a Xenon with an E71, but still had the error afterwards, tried the sync button
clear and it worked! -XJGX

i heatgun reflowed on of theses and still 3 rings pop up almost immediately. i
oven baked the board @ 180f for 8 hours and it still goes to 3 rings but now it
takes about 30 secs for the 3 lights to show up... am i making progress? what
should i do next? should reflow again now that i have got rid of flexing and
moisture?

Check the bottom of your board, near the x-clamp post port and RAM brick area.
Had a huge gash on a PHAT 360 today that needed seven trace repairs. Repaired
all of them and Xbox booted!

in my case i found that going back to an older nand image , which has an old cpu
key that has changed , will give you error 0022 too , example , if you where on
13604 and dumped the nand , and updated to 14699 , if you tried to flash the old
dump of 13604 it will not work and it will give you error 0022 , you have to do
a full dump of your nand of the 14699 before doing any thing so that you wont
loose the nand and get a brick

I decided here that gave a 0022 error in 5 seconds by changing the gpu and
adp3190, and another decided to just swapping the adp3190.

Hello to all the members, in my experience, error 0022 is coused by 60% GPU, 30%
CPU and 10% HANA CHIP

0022 after about 30 seconds boot - reflow GPU.

on 2012-01-08 19:26:12 :

I had this problem too, and reflowed GPU and CPU and ofcourse the ANA chip(yeah
i have an old xbox 360). Well i saw that 1 pin of the ANA chip was losing
contact with the board, so i pulled that pin down and reflowed the ANA chip
again. Now the error went away. Maybe a good idea to add this solution to error
0022?

Hi.

I originally had the error code 0110 and I fixed this by doing the x clamp fix.
Then, my luck, I got error code 0022. When I turn my xbox on, it doesn't
RROD for about 30 seconds. Also, I hear the fun (I think) increasing in RPMs,
then quickly slows to its normal speed. How can I fix this??

I should add that I used a heat gun during the x clamp fix to heat the underside
of the mobo. I did let the mobo cool for 45 minutes after using it. Could this
be a problem? Also, I did the fix yesterday.

Thanks in advance.

Had a 0110 mobo but after reflowing ram there was some delamination on the
bottom of board which caused 0022 error. I didn't see it at first
unfortunately so wasted allot of time reballing everything. Lesson learned.

on 2011-11-12 12:53:45 :

Had a 0110, reflowed without flux now got a 0022, but in my particulary case I
founded some kind of melted gluewey stuff around the gpu, there is no way i can
clean this up, I think this was an older attempt of someone for a fix.
This is a jtag one , it doesn't seem to have cutted traces ... but as I
say with all the mess on it ...

@xex-dubwooferx i gave up with the heat gun as it wasn't to successful for
me and as one of the posts says below it usually means re-balling a chip anyway,
reflows are not great and defiantly no good with out flux however if i would
recommend a reflow with out a station i had more success with the oven reflow as
the heat is dispersed evenly and stops the board from flexing as bad as it does
using a heat gun. tip always use flux for a reflow but where possible re-balling
is better. hope this helps pal.

I have this error on my falcon board and its really getting on my nerves as its
a jtagable, it started off by just flashing green led for ages no error code so
i did the heatgun repair and it started putting out 0022 so i heatgunned it just
a minute ago so maybe in mot holding the gun close enough or hot enough so ill
try it on more time then just dunno what to do next if it doesn't work
maybe get some noclean flux and try another heatgun as im doing it without flux
if it dont work ill have to send it off for a reball "/ unless anyone has
any ideas?

Can also be the titan board on a XeDK, prototype xbox 360, all the swtiches on
it need to be facing the rf board, if a little off it will error as the board is
very sensitive.

Just had a second one verifying my post above - DGCNY on 2011-07-01 09:40:11
05-04 01:55:11 : Same issue same correction. Reball may not be necessary but it
does appear the both the CPU and GPU should be reflowed.

I fixed my zephyr jtag working buy un bridging the solder joint u6t2 that i had

I had a unit that was originally 0201. I do reballing and I’m never
particularly concerned with interpreting error codes. Only if the change after
work was done. Most mean the GPU needs to be reballed anyway. After reball it
went to 0022. From there I reflowed the CPU and gave the GPU a second reflow and
the problem was solved.

Got this error after heatgunning a 0110 error using a crappy liquid flux I got
on ebay under the GPU. I do not know the flux caused the error for sure, but the
seller got kicked out of ebay a little after my purchase and I had used the
heatgun on other xbox before with no hassle.

I´ve tried to clean up the bad flux applying alcohol under the GPU and
then heatgun, as I read here, with no ressults. Anyone can give me an idea of
what to try next???? Thanks guys

on 2011-05-03 23:55:11 :

Had this error after a reballing.
Some balls are not fit properly, so I've add liquid flux and reflow it a
second time to let all the balls melting properly.
Now it boot up :D

on 2011-04-16 11:43:46 :

This error happens when you have an xbox 360 with a different NAND soldered (DVD
drive and CPU with matching KEY).
So the NAND came from another console!
The options are three:
- Solder back the original NAND
- Lift up the CPU and attach the matched CPU, then reflash the DVDDRIVE
firmware
- If you have CPU and DVDDRIVE matching, read the old NAND and save the image
file, erase the new NAND and FLASH on it the old image

I was doing the exact same thing as liam, reflashing it. i was using a usb wth
flash360 on it and now it doesnt work

I got a few 0022 mobos here.
I think in my case I got a dead chip(one of them) I ordered a GPU chip and I
will try to see if it fixes it.

btw the old gpus have broken corners - check yours with a microscope.

on 2010-07-02 02:37:33 :

also if you tighten the screws to tight that also might cause this error so
loosen them a bit then try i just went through that right now i loosened screws
then boom green lights

on 2010-06-24 07:28:19 :

ive just reflowed a 0022 with a aouye 852++ rework station just use flux and
good temps the gpu has about 95% of the errors since its the biggest bga

on 2010-05-11 20:36:37 :

would reballing the gpu be worthwhile? has anyone ever tried this and had
sucess?

on 2010-03-05 15:17:11 :

Boar jasper give tis error some times on start up, but if you wait one minute or
two with console giving error on next start up console boot normaly without this
error. I try reflow gpu and Hana chip and it worked for a few days.
